Examinations

A.C.T.A supports the internationallly recognised Trinity Guildhall International Examinations.

We offer exam tuition in Music Theatre, which comes under the Trinity Guildhall Drama and Speech Syllabus. We also offer Music Grade Examinations with Doreen Donnell, A.C.T.A Principal and well respected vocal professional.

Interested students begin examinations when they are 10 to 12 years old. With one exam each year, by the time they are 18 and are leaving A.C.T.A they have usually completed Grade 8 and are prepared and ready to begin Diploma qualifications at their chosen tertiary institution.

Exams are scheduled at set times each year, with Trinity Guildhall examiners coming to New Zealand to examine students from all over New Zealand.Students receive Pass, Merit or Distinction passes. A.C.T.A students consistently achieve Merit and Distinction in both Music Theatre and Singing.

 In 1999, A.C.T.A was 1st in New Zealand, and 4th worldwide, to enter candidates for the then newly established Musical Theatre syllabus. All of A.C.T.A's students achieved distinction & merit passes in 1999 and have continued to consistently achieve the highest marks in the Northern Region and in NZ in following years. 

A.C.T.A's students were invited to do a demonstration exam at the NZ Speech Teachers Conference in 2000 and in 2001 tutor Janine Donnell was the first person in NZ to pass the Associate Diploma in Music Theatre.
